Aapam – Vegan



Raw Rice – 2 cups

Urad Dhal – 2 tsps

Grated Coconut – 1/2 a coconut

Bi-carb soda – 1 tsp

Sugar – 1 tsp

Soak Rice & Urad Dhal. Once well soaked, add grated coconut & grind to coarse texture.

Mix the soda & 1 tsp of Sugar. Set aside in a warm place. You can use it after 2 hours.

In a small non-stick kadai (kadai is a deep pan, similar to a wok), pour a small cup of dough & swirl around until the edges are coated. slowly pour a tsp of oil on the sides of the kadai & also in the middle. Cover with a lid & slow cook for few seconds until the sides turn golden brown & the middle part cooked.

Slide the aapam on to a plate & it is ready to be served.
